Chaplin’s Sports Bistro from Concept to Creation

But what is the inspiration behind this hidden treasure in Union City, CA?  The sports bar and restaurant owners, Alfred Anderson and Chris Streker, create the magic that is embodied as Chaplin’s Sports Bistro.  Unlike large, locally-based chains, Anderson and Streker strive to offer an unmatched sports bar experience for the public that does not alienate major segments of the population like women and families.  With 18 years of combined experience in the food service industry, the duo has created the ideal venue for power lunches, corporate discussions, friendly gatherings and family dinners.  And as lovers of sports themselves, the bistro is impressively designed with nine flat screen televisions.  Alfred Anderson and Chris Streker fashioned the bistro with you in mind and established their business on quality, customer service and a strong sense of community.

Do you guys do reservations for large parties? I was considering doing something here for my birthday…probably on the 27th (sat) at like 7ish…maybe like 20 – 30 people? Your events show the UFC fight that night…so Im not sure if this is even possible?

    • Hi Carissa, yes we do accommodate large parties. On the 27th we will already be hosting a special event for UFC 159. I recommend giving us a call at 510.429.6860 and speak to one of our managers for a possible booking.

What time is Happy hour? I wanted to get a group of people there next Thursday (the 25th of April)- Are reservations necessary for groups of 10-15?

    • Hello Grey, sorry for the late reply, I hope we were able to accommodate your party. To answer your question when is our happy hour, it is everyday from 3pm to 7pm, including weekends, but not including special events like UFC and boxing pay-per-view. For future reference, no reservations are necessary, but we do suggest making reservations, for prompt and satisfactory service.

I was wondering if there was any way to get a copy of the drink menu. I was thinking of having my birthday party there this Saturday. I would love too see the drink menu for your selection and prices to see if it would be affordable . Thanks!

    • Hi Chris, thanks for you request. We went ahead and posted the drink menu to our site. Keep in mind our drink menu changes frequently with rotating draft specials. We will try to keep the menu online up to date for you all. Keep in mind we do have a full bar with very knowledgeable bartenders, they can practically make anything! http://www.chaplinssportsbistro.com/drink-menu

Do you have any plans to show the San Jose Sharks games when the season starts in October?

    • Hi Megan, thanks for the question. The answer is yes, we do play the San Jose Sharks games. We do have 9 big screen TV’s and can play 9 different games at the same time. I do recommend calling ahead on crowded schedule nights, because we do have a really strong 49ers and Warriors following as well.

    Hi Drew,

Do you guys do karaoke nights ? I’m part of a Meetup Karaoke group and would love to be able to suggest your place to them for at least a few of the events…Thanks !

I like to visit bars where they host CA Lottery games (i.e. Hot Spot locations, scratchers, etc). Do you have such a setup?

    • Hello Ed,

Unfortunately we do not have Lottery or parlor games in the restaurant. Our business model is driven by sports, an excellent happy hour and a great social scene, indeed a lot of things to entertain our guests. I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for the inquiry.
